Saturday 7th May

Saturday dawned sunny and warm, a typical high pressure muggy day! Dave P & Rowan got the kit out bright and early, and we headed up to the top hangar field to try our hand. First to fly was Dee, Mary's latest new lodger, who enjoyed the experience in spite of the poor launch height (due to the lack of wind) and the bad visibility! We hope to see Dee again on a better day - Mary has already roped her into the Regionals! Andy L had a group of visitors and they flew with Clive in the second K13, and helped retrieve the gliders. They also brought with them a very impressive picnic!
Dave flew with Andrew Fleming before sending Andrew back solo. Mark Hampson finally got back into the air for his fix, after a break of almost a year, and was very pleased to get his fix.
Patrick took the K8 for the standard short circuit of the day, and then on the following flight managed to sit in zero sink for a long time, eventually working himself into lift even though the sky looked unpromising. Patrick managed 1hr 12 - his longest flight yet, a XC Endorsement flight AND the longest flight of the day!
Some time later Rowan had a similar experience, but had to descend due to the large black looming cloud that enveloped the airfield. Rowan models the new streamers from the shock rope below!

All play stopped around 3pm when the clouds all joined up and the heavens opened! We got a touch damp putting the toys to bed, but it was quite nice to cool down after the humidity. Thanks to Jon C & Andy L for driving the winch, and Mick & Liz for helping chase off the small flock of sheep (!!) that came through around lunchtime....
Never a dull moment...
