Sunday 7 September

The best weekend day for several weeks, in terms of weather. A warm sunny afternoon, though the sky was a bit too blue to make it a booming day.Cloudbase was 3500 QFE by early afternoon, 4600 QFE by late afternoon.

Adam Linforth was on a day course, courtesy of Jaguar Land Rover's learning scheme. Paul Fletcher took him for an aerotow flight and then three winch launches. Two of these were soaring flights of 40+ and 50+ minutes, giving Adam chance to practice thermalling on his first day in a glider. We had to tell him that not every day was like this!

Air experience flights included Virginia Pike celebrating her 70th with an aerotow and a winch launch. A large family contingent supported her, and grandson Archie Short took a flight as well, pictured with Paul F below.

Club members getting good soaring flights included the Langlands, Carol Sheppard, Eric, Graham Paul and Peter White. Peter only converted to the K8 earlier in the week, so I was envious of his 3-hour flight - just try to bring it home before 6.30 pm next time, Peter!
