Three Shenington members attended the Aim Higher course at
Bicester Gliding Centre between the 2nd and 6th May 2016. The course proved
very informative and we picked up much information which we are now looking
forward to putting into practice.
Q5 managed two cross-country flights, one each
in the hands of Alan and Lech who managed to complete a good proportion of the
set tasks, Lech ran out of height before completing his day’s allocated task
and ended up paying Shenington a visit!
Alistair bought himself a flight recorder from
the BGA shop at Bicester and promptly took his K6e off to gain his Silver
Height – well done!
The three of us also had long flights in Kevin
Atkinson’s ASH 25 (G-SINK) and learned massive amounts about weather systems,
reading the weather, thermalling and cross-country techniques.
An extremely worthwhile course and highly
recommended to pilots who are thinking in flying cross-country or are in the
early stages of cross-country flying.
