Fab start to Feb...

A Busy Launch-Point (Photo by Ian)
Post cold front, bright blue skies and a NNW'ly wind drew out many club members hoping for some ridge soaring. Several private gliders were rigged and the launch queue grew fast. In fact, the wind was lighter than predicted making the ridge only work weakly. However, the silver lining was the instability in the airmass that allowed a stunningly thermic day for the time of year.

Don P turned up with 3 DGS candidates for XC Endorsement Training in the Falke and spent the day providing NavExs and FLExs.

John and Tim D flew their DG500 with a 4000ft tow and hooked into wave for the flight of the day clocking up 2hrs 28mins, only coming back to let Gary have a go. Trish L soared for 2 hours before landing to let Alan have a play, and most others folks got some soaring in on a day that provided ridge wave and thermal.
