Midweek Feasting...

After a slow start to the day, the weather cleared during the afternoon and Shaun took to the sky with Gavin in the K13. I saw them spinning from the clubhouse- it seems the only thing holding Shaun back from flying solo again is the absence of his valid medical! Better hurry up and get one Shaun, looks like good weather over the next few days!

The day ended with a wonderful meal: carbonara and fruit salad prepared by Phil and Russell, so a big thank you goes to them.

Something from Eric (ntd)...

Overheard in the bar

"June is supposed to be busting out all over, but Clive?"

"Carol is no doubt giving him a lot of help at this moment but how will he cope with ‘ER NEAR? " [Gerrit?]

"Truss Clive to get of out of Roster duty"

"We should send him some jokes but can we risk him in stitches?"

[Clive is recuperating after a hernia op. last Friday, the second in his short but drama filled life. The surgeon couldn’t find his monocle after the first one, and Clive said, "If it’s not in the fridge, search me."
He is making a speedy recovery [groan]]

Sunday 2nd June: a VERY successful day!

After Tess' report on Saturday's flying, Sunday was certainly a record breaking day! Henry Ollis came from Haddenham with his K6 GEM for a 50km attempt back home, which he successfully achieved.  Congratulations were also in order for several of our own pilots, Eric and Trish both managed 300km flights, Eric in Cosy and Trish in her DG (although there was a slight problem with Eric's GPS, so unfortunately he couldn't claim a badge). Harry completed his five hours, actually staying up for 5 hours 45 minutes this time (after 4 hours, 56 minutes and 8 seconds at the last attempt!) to make sure he achieved his silver duration. Paul Mucha completed his first 100km flight and I took my Mum for a flight in CCC, using my Passenger Carrying rating for the first time. Paul, Dave and Gail all flew 'The Green Machine.' Jane and Gail took several trial lessons for flights, so a big thank you to them. Also, thanks to Bruno for supervising for the day, Glen as morning LPC and our winch drivers through the day. Also, flying were Ian M, John R, Jon L, Simon Bryant from Haddenham, Dave G, John and Tim D, Russell D, Robin J, Jon C, Norman D and Paul N. Robin also took Dawn for a flight in the Falke.

So, overall, a very successful and fun day was had by all...

Saturday 1st June: Charlie Charlie flies again!!!

Just thought I'd post a couple of photos of Charlie Charlie, back on line after nearly 3 years! She flies beautifully. After going on the test flight with Bruno (we did spins, 4g turns and went to Vne!), I took CCC off for an hour's soaring, reaching cloud base at 3700', with the vario reading 10 knots up at times! Other people to fly in her included Terry, Norman, Brent ans Rowan.

Saturday 1st June

It must be a record - the second good weekend in a row and lots of soaring to be had! Many of the club members had seen the forecast and the gliders were out in force on Saturday. Especially good news was the arrival at the launchpoint of a bright and glossy Triple Charlie ready for a flight testing. Bruno & Lucy swifly checked her out and then CCC spent most of the day in the air. Jaffa was likewise fully occupied all day. Brent, Dave P, Jon L, Lucy, Alistair, Rowan and Dave lm all had good flights. Eric was flying Cosy Pajamas. Russell went flying in the Duo and all of the DGs  were out, with Alan L, Paul N and John R . John & I flew H20 and Paul Fletcher kindly stepped in to fly with some trial lesson visitors in XX1. It was fairly windy and quite blue early on so most of us didn't do much more than bimble around the vale of Evesham. However Alan L flew a 250km task out to Abergavenny and then Talgarth, which was a great flight given the upper winds and blue conditions. Later on it got more cloudy and the pilots towards the end of the day reported excellent conditions.

Thanks to everyone who helped out during the day, and to Liz who very kindly prepared an evening meal for 15 then went out elsewhere for the evening!
